20 Weeks

We are 20 weeks today and we have now received images from the 20 week scan. This is the scan where they do a number of routine measurements to make sure that all is developing as it should. They look at things like organ development, size and placement. We were happy to know that there seems to be stomachs, kidneys and brains etc all where they are meant to be. A little surprise was the 4D image thrown in for us. It is amazing and we can't wait to see more of these later on. When we first seen it we were a little shocked a what appears to be the lips. One of our kids was going to give Mick Jagger a run for his money. Vince still reckons that they are not lips but little hands. Vince is happy with not knowing what the sexes are. Me, I would love to know if we could. It is not really anything to do with impatience, more to do with planing. It seems that any knowledge you have helps with things like putting your name on lists for day cares and schools etc and also with completing forms for various agencies. Because everything is happening overseas and given the fact that we will not be home for at least four weeks after the birth really does affect all of these things. Even more so because when we get home the first thing we have to do is sought guardianship for Vince.

For now though, I am just happy to spend time staring at these images which seem to allow time to drift on by as I become lost in dreams.

Today I went shopping with Uncle Pete. He bought us two high chairs and a bath. I had the best time walking around Ikea with my baby brother. I am really looking forward to sharing this journey with him. He is such a large part of our life. We both hope that the kids pick up a little of his wit and attitude.

I would  like to advocate the use of the Ikea Antilop high chair. $25 bucks each and they are so easy to assemble, Can be transported easily. Taken out side and hosed. There is no padding for food to get lost in. Practical and simple.
