Hiccups

Nothing like a little bureaucracy to throw a spanner in the works. So far we have had a dream run really. To enter India you require a visa issued by your local Indian Embassy. A tourist visa is for 6 months. When the visa expires you cannot apply for another for 1 month. If you apply for one within 2 months of the current one expiring then it can take up to 45 days to be processed, rather than the usual 5 to 10. Our problem is that our current visa was issued on the 3rd of May and expires on the 3rd of November. Therefore we can only apply on or after the 3rd of December and because it is less than the required two months it could take up to 45 days. Not really a problem other than the babies are due to be delivered on or after the 1st January. If it takes the full 45 days we will not be allowed to enter India until the 17th January. Just a little late. I have asked if we can expedite the application based on this and there is an option but it will only be available to me as the biological father, meaning Vince will not be able come until the 17th. Needless to say we are a little gutted at the moment and will be spending a great deal of time and energy lobbying the Indian High Commissioner. Lets hope that we can try and bring a little humanity to the red tape.
